Recap: Stanton Blue Devils vs. Interlachen Rams
The Stanton Blue Devils came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over Interlachen. This was payback for Stanton, who suffered a 67-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Raza Cottey, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Surafel Cummings, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Stanton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Interlachen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Stanton will head out on the road to face off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxon School For Advanced Studies presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stanton in Florida (Paxon School For Advanced Studies is ranked 57th, while Stanton is ranked 327th). Interlachen and Union County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Union County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.8 points per game.
