Baseball Recap: Chesterfield Has No Trouble Against Lee Central

Chesterfield's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Lee Central Stallions with a sharp 11-2 win. The Golden Rams haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Rocket Watford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Chesterfield's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Watford was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other pitching news, Timothy Perkins looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Chesterfield got a massive performance out of Holden Lowery, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Banasiewicz, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-5.

Chesterfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Central only managed four hits.

The win got Chesterfield back to even at 5-5. As for Lee Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Chesterfield will square off against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lee Central, they will take on C.A. Johnson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee Central is facing C.A. Johnson at the right time seeing as C.A. Johnson is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
