Softball Game Preview: Capitan Tigers vs. Lordsburg Mavericks

The Capitan Tigers will head out to square off against the Lordsburg Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Capitan heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Loving, falling 24-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Lordsburg entered their matchup against Hozho Academy on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mavericks fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 12-11. The Mavericks just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

The loss snapped Capitan's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record. As for Lordsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Capitan skirted past Lordsburg 7-6 when the teams last played last Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
