Recap: Evans Knights vs. Glynn Academy Terrors
The Evans Knights might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was the Glynn Academy Terrors who claimed the real prize. Evans fell 22-14 to Glynn Academy. While losing is never fun, Evans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Glynn Academy is ranked 105th).
When it comes to explaining why Evans lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rayshaun King. Despite the final result, he rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Evans and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Effingham County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Glynn Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Evans will head out on the road to face off against Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Evans likes a good challenge. Glynn Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakeside at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
