Softball Recap: Munford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Munford, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Handley Tigers by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Tigers two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

Brooklyn Pressley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Kastin Lathem was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jena Gaither, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Munford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Munford's victory bumped their record up to 20-5-1. As for Handley, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munford will head out to face off against Anniston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Handley, they will venture away from home to challenge Benjamin Russell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.03 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
