Basketball Recap: Jefferson City Comes Up Short

Jefferson City was the 79-37 winner over Capital City when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Jefferson City Jays took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Capital City Cavaliers on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Jays came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 187th).

Jefferson City's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Capital City, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-11.

Jefferson City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-45 win against Camdenton on the 22nd. As for Capital City, they will welcome Smith-Cotton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Smith-Cotton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
