Soccer Game Preview: Eagle Pass vs. Alexander

Eagle Pass is 2-8 against Alexander since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Eagle Pass Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Alexander Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Eagle Pass will be strutting in after a win while Alexander will be coming in after a loss.

Eagle Pass took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Laredo LBJ a 4-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Alexander was not quite Medina Valley's equal in the second half on Friday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Panthers are ranked 135th).

Alexander's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4. As for Eagle Pass, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5-2.

Eagle Pass beat Alexander by a goal in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eagle Pass since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
