Basketball Recap: New Caney Triumphs

New Caney won the last time they faced Aldine and Emily McCants did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 67-44 margin over the Mustangs on Friday thanks in part to McCants, who posted 35 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of New Caney's points.

When it comes to explaining why Aldine lost, don't look at Brandi Freeman. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Freeman is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Sara Sanchez was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 15 points.

The victory got New Caney back to even at 2-2. As for Aldine, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

New Caney has already played their next contest, a 39-34 defeat against Alvin on the 15th. As for Aldine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-12 loss against Jersey Village on the 14th.
