Preview: North Central Eagles vs. Montpelier Locomotives
The North Central Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Montpelier Locomotives at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Central is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for North Central, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Antwerp. North Central has not had much luck with Antwerp recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite their defeat, North Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joe Burt, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Burt's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Johnny Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Montpelier's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 74-19 defeat at the hands of Jones Leadership Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Montpelier has scored all season.
North Central now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Montpelier, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
North Central and Montpelier were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February, but North Central came up empty-handed after a 51-50 loss. Can North Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
