It's playoff time, and Licking Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Clinton-Massie Falcons 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on 12 straight.

Emory Whisner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base.

Whisner wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Penick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Licking Valley's record now sits at 23-4. As for Clinton-Massie, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Coming up, Licking Valley will challenge Kenton Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.1, the Cougars 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Clinton-Massie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
