Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Lowry Buckaroos

On Friday, the Churchill County Greenwave faced the Lowry Buckaroos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Churchill County was beaten by Lowry 76-39. Churchill County's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Churchill County had strong showings from Jada Anastasio, who scored 19 points along with four steals, and Karlie Simper, who scored seven points along with four steals. Simper continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Churchill County's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-4. As for Lowry, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Churchill County will challenge Fernley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Fernley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday. As for Lowry, they will head out on the road to take on Dayton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Lowry is ranked ninth).
