South Florence waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let Tournament Opponent get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Bruins have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Payton Perry, who gave up just seven hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Tournament Opponent off the board. Perry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ava Black was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Owens, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
South Florence's victory bumped their record up to 18-6.
Coming up, South Florence will take on Austintown-Fitch at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 13.5 runs per game this season. As for Tournament Opponent, they will take on West in a tournament on Friday.
