            Softball Recap: Ray Bearcats vs. Fort Thomas Apaches        
        
		
        
        
            Ray won the last time they faced Fort Thomas and things went their way  on Wednesday too. The Bearcats were the clear victors by  a  19-2 margin over the Apaches.
 Mia Barajas made a big impact no matter where she played. She  tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off   five  hits. Barajas was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.

 In other batting news,  Julianna Martinez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four  RBI and two  runs. Those  four  RBI gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Josselyn Lechuga, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Ray  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They are 5-2 when  they post two or more  strikeouts.
Ray is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 16.6 runs over those games. As for Fort Thomas,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 5-7.
 Looking ahead, Ray will venture away from home to  face off against Mogollon  at 2:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Fort Thomas, they will take on Pima at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roughriders have averaged an impressive 11.4  runs per game this season.
