Greer Middle College suffers ninth straight loss on the road

While the Greer Middle College Blazers couldn't quite beat the Greenville Tech Charter Warriors on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 51-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Greer Middle College fell just short of Greenville Tech Charter by a score of 25-22. Greer Middle College was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenville Tech Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 5th.

Greenville Tech Charter found their leader in underclassman Sophie Chasteen, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Chasteen pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Josey Stefanik, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two blocks.

Greer Middle College dropped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.7 points per game. As for Greenville Tech Charter, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Greer Middle College will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Liberty is ranked 240th, while Greer Middle College is ranked 238th). As for Greenville Tech Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against Blacksburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Blacksburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
