Basketball Recap: Springbrook Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Springbrook won the last time they faced Magruder and things went their way on Friday too. The Springbrook Blue Devils walked away with a 78-66 win over the Magruder Colonels. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Colonels are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Magruder lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Yannick Mbonda, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Jonah Wertlieb, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points.

Springbrook's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.8 points per game. As for Magruder, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Coincidentally, Springbrook and Magruder will both be playing Watkins Mill the next time they take the court. Magruder will host Watkins Mill at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Springbrook will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
