Recap: Rain Red Raiders vs. Murphy Panthers

The Rain Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Murphy on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin. Rain has struggled against Murphy recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Murphy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deangelon Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. Bryan Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds.

Rain bumped their record down to 4-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Murphy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rain will take on Orange Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Murphy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against LeFlore at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. LeFlore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Murphy is ranked 50th).
