Recap: Roxana Shells vs. Freeburg Midgets
The Roxana Shells lost against the Freeburg Midgets back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Roxana fell to Freeburg 58-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roxana in their matchups with Freeburg: they've now lost five in a row.
Roxana's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sean Maberry, who scored 17 points along with 5 assists, and Evan Wells who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Maberry's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Hollaway, who scored 5 points.
Cole Stuart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Freeburg, scoring 26 points along with 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Stuart has scored at least 25% of Freeburg's points. Another player making a difference was Bryson Browning, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The last time Roxana won on the road was back last Saturday. Having now lost three straight away matches, they've bumped their record down to 4-3. As for Freeburg, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roxana will take on Breese Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Breese Central is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Freeburg, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome SIUE East St. Louis Charter at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th.
