Softball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Patriots vs. Cardinal O'Hara Lions
Archbishop Carroll had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it five. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinal O'Hara Lions. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
As for Cardinal O'Hara, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2. The game was the first time they have beaten Archbishop Carroll on their field since May 1, 2018.
For Cardinal O'Hara's part, Hayden Sissons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Sissons has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Emily Dill was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. She also put up two runs, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Cathers, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
