Recap: Myers Park Mustangs vs. Northwood Chargers

The Myers Park Mustangs and the Northwood Chargers (ranked three and 77 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest. Myers Park enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over Northwood on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Myers Park sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Myers Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadiq White Jr., who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Sir Mohammed was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Northwood still got an impressive performance from Drake Powell, who scored 23 points along with three blocks. Powell hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Harvey, who scored five points along with three steals.

Northwood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Myers Park pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Northwood, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Myers Park will take on Olympic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Olympic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday. As for Northwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
