Basketball Recap: Republic Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Republic won the last time they faced Columbia, and Landon Short did his part to make sure it happened again. The Republic Tigers breezed by the Columbia Lions to the tune of 81-28 on Wednesday thanks in part to Short, who went 13 of 17 en route to 33 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Republic's points.

Another player making a difference was Christopher Pacheco, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Republic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Columbia, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Republic will venture away from home to face off against Inchelium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Inchelium's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matchups. As for Columbia, they will head out to take on Selkirk at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
