Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Savannah Hardwick and Sasha Simon Lead Northland Christian to Victory

Northland Christian was handed a 23-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the St. Thomas Episcopal Saints 47-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since November 9, 2023.

Northland Christian was led to victory by Sasha Simon and Savannah Hardwick. Simon posted 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Hardwick had 16 points in addition to six assists and four steals. That's the most points Simon has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorelle Henderson, who earned four points and six boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Northland Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 5.5.

Northland Christian moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for St. Thomas Episcopal, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Northland Christian has already played their next game, a 59-33 defeat against Rosehill Christian on the 14th. St. Thomas Episcopal has also already played their next contest (against First Baptist Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
