Basketball Recap: Hersey Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rolling Meadows last Friday, Hersey came back down to earth. The Hersey Huskies lost to the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners on the road by a 58-40 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 14th).

Hersey's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Nazareth Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hersey will challenge Elk Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nazareth Academy, they will square off against Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Marist has won six straight at home, while Nazareth Academy won 13 straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
