Softball Game Preview: Western Christian Pioneers vs. Gaston Greyhounds

The Western Christian Pioneers will challenge the Gaston Greyhounds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Western Christian has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Gaston will arrive with three straight wins.

Friday just wasn't the day for Western Christian's offense. They came up short against St. Paul on Friday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Gaston made easy work of Vernonia on Friday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Western Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Gaston, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Western Christian couldn't quite get it done against Gaston in their previous meeting back in April of 2015 as they fell 8-5. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
