Basketball Game Preview: Sunnybrook Christian Lions vs. KIPP Somos Collegiate Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sunnybrook Christian Lions duke it out with the KIPP Somos Collegiate Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday... Sunnybrook Christian is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Sunnybrook Christian was beaten by Lifegate Christian 52-13. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1591st, while the Falcons are ranked 702nd).

Despite their defeat, Sunnybrook Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Davina Crowl, who posted seven points, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact KIPP Somos Collegiate can now relate to. They took a 29-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers last Tuesday.

Sunnybrook Christian will have to keep a close watch on TyKirah Steele and Elizabeth Pena, a pair of players who had a big impact on KIPP Somos Collegiate's prior game. Steele put up eight points, while Pena had seven points.

KIPP Somos Collegiate now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Sunnybrook Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
