Softball Recap: Cold Springs Eagles vs. West Point Warriors
Cold Springs extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-18-2 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the West Point Warriors. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
As for West Point, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-20. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 15-0).
For West Point's part, Kortni Baker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baker has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, West Point got a massive performance out of Lauren Wyndham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Wyndham a new career-high. Katherine Yovino was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Cold Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Point, they will head out to face off against Russellville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
