Softball Game Preview: Spring Valley Grizzlies vs. Rancho Rams

Spring Valley hasn't had much luck against Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will host the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Spring Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Spring Valley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 9-3 to Basic.

Jaiden Flores made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rancho got themselves on the board against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Thursday, but Pinecrest Academy Cadence never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-0 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Braun made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Layla Stout was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Annalise Stout was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
