Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Evansville North Huskies

The Floyd Central Highlanders will square off against the Evansville North Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Floyd Central managed to slip by North Oldham the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Highlanders lost 11-5 to the Mustangs on Thursday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Evansville North prevailed. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over New Albany on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gideon Rice, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Evansville North pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Floyd Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Floyd Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Evansville North when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
