Basketball Recap: Whitmire Takes a Loss

Whitmire played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Ware Shoals Hornets 45-15. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Whitmire lost, don't look at Trystan Samples. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with five boards and three blocks. Samples has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played.

Ware Shoals' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tailynn Smith, who had 12 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Stella Eichhorn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Whitmire's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Ware Shoals, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.

Looking ahead, Whitmire will venture away from home to face off against Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. As for Ware Shoals, they have already played their next game, a 53-23 victory against GREEN Upstate on the 6th.
