Baseball Recap: Trent Wheat Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Miller Grove

Leverett's Chapel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Miller Grove on Tuesday. The Lions never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Carson Ford was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Leverett's Chapel is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5-1 otherwise. Ford was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Trent Wheat was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Davis Tryon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three RBI.

Leverett's Chapel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miller Grove struck out seven times.

Leverett's Chapel's record is now 3-6-1. As for Miller Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
