Baseball Game Preview: St. John's Prep Eagles vs. Weymouth Wildcats

The St. John's Prep Eagles will face off against the Weymouth Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. John's Prep will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

St. John's Prep's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Malden Catholic by a score of 5-0.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Weymouth and Framingham have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Flyers. The Wildcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 11-1).

Weymouth got a great performance from Liam Barr as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Barr has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Devin Kelsch was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Johnny Pires, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Weymouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. John's Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Weymouth, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
