Softball Recap: Southeast's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Southeast dropped their record down to 10-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the LaBrae Vikings by a score of 9-8. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Morgan Muncy was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. Ava Stephens was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

As for LaBrae, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On LaBrae's side, Riley Rowe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Rowe has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, LaBrae got a massive performance out of Shelby Bragg, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Lichty, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southeast beat LaBrae by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday.
