Basketball Recap: Father Tolton vs. Hazelwood West Wildcats
Father Tolton lost against Hazelwood West back in December of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Father Tolton came up short against the Hazelwood West Wildcats, falling 52-30. While losing is never fun, Father Tolton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Hazelwood West is ranked 45th).
Hazelwood West was led to victory by Jamiah Herring-Green and Zayniyah Jackson. Herring-Green went 8 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Jackson posted nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Herring-Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of London Beard, who put up seven points and eight rebounds.
Father Tolton's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-11. As for Hazelwood West, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cardinal Ritter College Prep the next time they take the court. Hazelwood West will head out to face Cardinal Ritter College Prep at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, while Father Tolton will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
