Foothill had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the West Valley Eagles on Saturday as they made off with a 70-45 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 23-point advantage.

Foothill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Poulsen, who shot 61% from the field on his way to 31 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Forward, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Foothill was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Valley only posted three.

Despite the defeat, West Valley had strong showings from Tyce Bauer, who shot 64% from the field en route to 19 points and three steals, and Austin Coffman, who posted nine points and three steals.

Coming up, Foothill will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Lassen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Colusa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
