Softball Preview: Olney Trojans vs. String Theory
The Olney Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against String Theory at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Back in March, Olney had just enough and edged Thomas A. Edison out 7-6. The win was just what Olney needed coming off of a 23-8 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, String Theory put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Freire Charter.
String Theory let Veronica Cattai and Alexa Pietrafesa loose on the outfield. Cattai scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Pietrafesa went 1-for-2 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Ava Matteo, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
The win got Olney back to even at 1-1. As for String Theory, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Olney came up short against String Theory when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 16-11. Thankfully for Olney, Gianna Masci (who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances) won't be suiting up this time.
