Baseball Game Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Holy Name Green Wave

The Cloverleaf Colts will be taking part in a tournament against the Holy Name Green Wave at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cloverleaf has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Holy Name will arrive with three straight victories.

On Monday, Cloverleaf came up short against Lake and fell 6-1.

Holy Name came out on top against Orange on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Green Wave walked away with an 8-4 win over the Lions.

Frankie Germano looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Mikey Tworzydlo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Holy Name's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Joe Svetz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Holy Name's victory bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Cloverleaf, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
