Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Desert Mountain Wolves

The Mountain Pointe Pride are taking a road trip to face off against the Desert Mountain Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Pointe has three straight wins, Desert Mountain has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Friday, Mountain Pointe took their matchup with ease, bagging a 75-45 victory over Horizon.

Meanwhile, Desert Mountain suffered their biggest defeat since November 20, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 66-34 loss at the hands of Notre Dame Prep. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Saints are ranked eighth).

Mountain Pointe's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. As for Desert Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Mountain Pointe was able to grind out a solid victory over Desert Mountain in their previous matchup back in January, winning 84-73. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Pointe since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
