Softball Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. Hartsville Red Foxes
The Chesterfield Golden Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Hartsville Red Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Chesterfield came up short against North Central and fell 4-1.
Meanwhile, Hartsville got themselves on the board against Lower Richland on Tuesday, but Lower Richland never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Diamond Hornets. Considering the Red Foxes have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Allie Bailey looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hartsville got a massive performance out of Myah Harvey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave Harvey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaysha McCullough, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Hartsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Richland only posted an OBP of .200.
Hartsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Chesterfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.
