Football Game Preview: Sprague Olympians vs. Lake Oswego Lakers

The Sprague Olympians will challenge the Lake Oswego Lakers on Friday. Sprague is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.6 points per game this season.

Sprague will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Sheldon, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Olympians enjoyed a cozy 14-0 win over the Irish on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Olympians.

Carter Lovell and Paul Herb were among the main playmakers for Sprague as the former rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries and the latter rushed for 88 yards and one score. Those 88 rushing yards gave Herb a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sprague was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Sprague didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gabe Flynn and Max Makarenko. Bohdi Jones was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks, forcing three fumbles, and making seven total tackles.

Meanwhile, Lake Oswego faced Lakeridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lakers put the hurt on the Pacers with a sharp 35-14 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won eight matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Sprague better keep an eye on LaMarcus Bell. He was instrumental in Lake Oswego's win, rushing for 151 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Hudson Kurland was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one score.

Lake Oswego's record now sits at 8-1. As for Sprague, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
