Baseball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seguin Cougars.

Oscar Castillo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Southwest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-16 when he doesn't).

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Seguin, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-18.

Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Western Hills on the 22nd. As for Seguin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 defeat against Mansfield Timberview on the 18th.
