Basketball Game Preview: Gadsden Panthers vs. Alamogordo Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers challenge the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gadsden hasn't scored more than 18 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Monday, Gadsden took a blow against Mayfield, falling 48-14. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Trojans are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-22, which was the final score in Alamogordo's tilt against Las Cruces on Monday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gadsden's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Alamogordo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-21.

Gadsden won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting two weeks ago, slipping by Alamogordo 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gadsden since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
