Baseball Recap: Clay Victorious

Clay won the last time they faced Ridgeview and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Lukas Moore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Moore wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Gunsaulus, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Clayton Hickey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Clay's record is now 11-13. As for Ridgeview, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Clay will head out to take on Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgeview, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
