Basketball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Freeman Mavericks

The Hermitage Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Freeman Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hermitage is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 52-12 victory over Thomas Jefferson. With the Panthers ahead 30-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Hermitage relied on the efforts of Jordyn McQuinn-Hamlin, who posted 17 points, and Mariah Kinslow, who scored 21 points.

Meanwhile, Freeman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Justices by a score of 51-39.

Hermitage better keep an eye on Addie Morton. She was instrumental in Freeman's win, putting up 23 points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Morton has scored at least a third of Freeman's points. Another player making a difference was Molly Bannister, who had nine points.

Freeman pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for Hermitage, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.

Hermitage beat Freeman 42-30 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Does Hermitage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freeman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
