Volleyball Recap: Meeker's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After flying high against North Park on Friday, Meeker came back down to earth. Meeker took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plateau Valley on Saturday. Meeker's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meeker couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-17, 19-25, 26-17, 25-15.

Sawyer May paced Meeker's offense, picking up seven kills. May got some help from Hailey Schwartz and her 11 assists. Lilly Newman controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Lili Taylor had a dynamite game For Plateau Valley., getting 23 digs and four assists. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Meeker's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Plateau Valley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Coming up, Meeker will be playing at home against North Fork at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plateau Valley, they will head out to square off against De Beque at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
