Football Recap: Madison La Follette Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Madison La Follette was riding high fresh off their 35-0 takedown of Madison East last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers were outmatched by the Verona Wildcats and fell 54-21. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Wildcats are ranked 26th).

Madison La Follette's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Patrick Toomey and Shaun Peeler. Toomey rushed for 98 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, while Peeler rushed for 110 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Verona can attribute much of their success to Jackson Connor, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Madison La Follette now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Verona, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Madison La Follette is set to face off against their familiar foe Madison West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Verona will square off against rival Middleton at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 13.8, the Cardinals 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
