Basketball Recap: Pocomoke Takes a Loss

Pocomoke suffered their biggest defeat since January 16th on Thursday. They took a blow against the Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings, falling 99-72. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MALACHI BONNEVILLE, who went 9-for-12 en route to 20 points and eight boards. BONNEVILLE is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last three games he's played. ZYMIERE WALKER was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pocomoke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Pocomoke's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Cambridge-South Dorchester, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Pocomoke didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 94-40 win against Nandua on the 14th. As for Cambridge-South Dorchester, they will take on Kent Island on Tuesday.
