Basketball Recap: Leonard Lancers vs. Forest Hill Falcons
Leonard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Forest Hill Falcons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-54 back in December of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Leonard lost, don't look at Bryce Reed. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 22 points and five steals. Colten Munnings was another key player, putting up nine points.
Forest Hill found their leader in freshman Angel Ortiz, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Grice, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.
Leonard's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Forest Hill, they moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Leonard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-41 loss against Spanish River on the 7th. Forest Hill has also already played their next game, a 60-58 victory against Somerset Academy Key on the 7th.
