Soccer Game Preview: Lyons vs. Fenwick

The Lyons Lions will face off against the Fenwick Friars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Lyons is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Reavis get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Lyons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Reavis are ranked 291st).

Lyons' offense was hitting Reavis from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fenwick). They blew past Kenwood 9-0 on Tuesday. Give Fenwick's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Fenwick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven matches. As for Lyons, the victory got them back to even at 9-9-1.
