Baseball Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss

Montclair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to the Canyon Springs Cougars. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.

Montclair got a good showing from Matthew Gaitan, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Gaitan has allowed since back in February.

Montclair's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Canyon Springs, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7.

Montclair didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-5 defeat against Ramona on the 24th. As for Canyon Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Grand Terrace on the 25th.
