The Countryside Christian Minutemen will head out to take on the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Countryside Christian knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully P.K. Yonge likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Countryside Christian got the win against Ocala Christian by a conclusive 15-1. The win continues a trend for the Minutemen in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won three in a row.
Laila Carter was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Countryside Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .511 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, P.K. Yonge might've scored the first runs on Saturday, but it was University Christian who claimed the real prize. P.K. Yonge came up short against University Christian, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Blue Wave couldn't push the score so high this time.
P.K. Yonge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Mansfield, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Countryside Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for P.K. Yonge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
P.K. Yonge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Countryside Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for P.K. Yonge, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Countryside Christian's sizable advantage in that area, P.K. Yonge will need to find a way to close that gap.
Countryside Christian might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from P.K. Yonge in their previous matchup back in February. Can Countryside Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
