Baseball Game Preview: Glen Rose Tigers vs. Clifton Cubs

The Glen Rose Tigers will take on the Clifton Cubs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clifton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Glen Rose, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Glen Rose turned things around against Stephenville on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 21st.

Cullen Kickhoefer made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Glen Rose is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise. Kickhoefer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mikey Porter was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Clifton lost 13-1 to West back in March. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Clifton's loss dropped their record down to 5-11-2. As for Glen Rose, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 12-12.

Glen Rose took their victory against Clifton in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 19-2 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cubs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
